Funky Junk Sisiter's Junk Salvation

This nest chick is so happy to say....I am back on track. After opening the brick and mortar shop it has been a real struggle to get back in the show saddle, Projects, and outside decorating has taken a back seat for a while....
but NO MORE!
I started out this show knowing I wanted to have fun and that's exactly what I had.....
Dixie and Linda are great gals and know how to treat their vendors like family.....
This is the out look of the space...now mind you, its just a 10x10....
I had the best partner for the show....
Candimae designs.

This is Candace's settee, and probably my favorite piece...it was the perfect perch for my vintage black crystal chandelier....

I also loved this little "cupcake" table.....

Candimae Designs offers the prettiest little coat hooks, custom letters for your walls, and the most exquisite picture frames, this is one talented lady and I felt so blessed to be her show partner....
I wish I had better pictures for you, but I fell ill not long after the show opened Friday night...

We had so much fun, especially with the Cinnamon rolls from the Great Harvest Bread Company...

Big thank you to Candace, My hubby, And my Girlie Allison....without their help I wouldn't have been able to have such a fabulous time this weekend....
Tomorrow I am off to decorate a friends beautiful home for the holidays...YAY!

Till the next post friends,
Blessings, e

I can smell Fall around the corner

I have said before and I will say again ...
Fall is my favorite time of year...
I decided to get the shop ready for fall with a few new Halloween touches....
(cute burlap pillow already sold)

(both hand made wool pumpkin pillows sold)

just little letter stickers on your platters can make a big statement to your Halloween decorations....

Rather than put all my bird nests and cages away for Fall/Halloween...I added skulls and crows to them so I could keep the things I love out for display....

Love this Apron, made by Junkabella.

Just a few new touches at the shop....
My window displays are still in the works...
I do love making my windows stand out!
Next time I will post a "Before and After"
Happy September friends...

The Rebirth of a Murphy Chair

I have always called this style of chair a Murphy chair....I have no idea how I learned that or where I picked it up from...probably heard it years ago working in Miss Cheryl's antique shop,
but
I had no idea there was an actual Murphy Chair Company....

Until I found this little beauty that had the metal makers copyright plate on the back

The picture doesn't show the layers of dirt
 and grime....
(aren't you glad)

Lots of bleach water to clean it...
I use diluted bleach for cleaning,
if I am painting a piece,
but not if I'm refinishing

Lots of goopy drippy dried glue
 where it had been repaired....

That needed alot of sanding...
which I kind of like doing...
(Don't judge me, hahaha)

A bit of grease here and there....
I removed this bracket before painting,
I also taped all the wheels and metal hard ware so it would keep the integrity and general good looks of the chair....

A nice coat of spray primer
and as said before....
I always start with the underside first...

And another coat of PRIMER!!!
Four coats of primer later....

And Three coats of paint...

Tahdah! A Creamy, beautiful, fresh Finish for a Great chair....
This one is spoken for but I think I need to find one for ME!

And here's a mini update to the entryway in my home....

I repainted over the aqua color...now its the same mushroom color that the adjoining front living room has....
I also repainted my paneling to a crisp white...
I have to say that I have hated the little sconce in the middle of the wall there...
I knew I needed to do something that made it look intentional instead of awkward...

I painted a couple open gilded frames,
from the garage,
and hung them around it....
I have had these carved Ivory silhouettes for 5 years and haven't liked them anywhere...
I love them here.
It's funny how such a simple change can make such a huge difference....
It has been a challenge to go from a formal European style to
a more casual style....
I will keep sharing updates...
let me know what you think

Blessings e

So Many Projects, So Little Time!!!

Hello blog friends...
I feel like it's been forever since I last Posted....
oh, it has been forever since I last posted....
Here is a little summery of what I have been up to....
I made some changes to the shop....

I made a few new bags....

I had the privileged of participating in a local vintage flea market for charity...
the donations and proceeds went to the fire fighters stair climb for Leukemia Lymphoma Foundation...

This is one of the cutest pieces I have seen in a while...

I have worked on a couple before and afters.....

Before....
Ethan Allen chair in need of a face lift.....

A little grey flat primer.....
Never forget to turn everything over to spray the bottom...

Tahdah! drift wood chair....for a very sweet lady...

Two beautiful french provincial style hand painted end tables....
the left is refinished and the right one shows some of the damage they had....

Just a few of the projects I have been working on since I last posted....
I have been redressing my windows at the shop, finishing up on my home's remodel, and have finished a few more re upholstery projects....
those are for next time...
blessings, Ella
