House tour

I have a friend that has the most lovely house!

She was so kind as to let me photograph her fabulous home

and inspire all of you.....

May I introduce you to Miss Kim....

(and Maddy)

Although not a southerner ,she has the most southern soul....

Welcoming, kind, gracious, etc.....

 It all starts on her porch....

This is Miss Macey (yes, like Macy's department store)

This is the queen of the house.....

and she makes sure everyone knows it......

This is where I wanted to spend the rest of my day.....

Now do you see what I mean? .....

and that was just the front porch.....

This is her front parlor.....

This is my favorite piece of furniture.....

It is old Kitchen cabinets she purchased at an estate sale....

for a song, of course,

she painted it black and.....

WOW....LOVE IT

One of the things I love about Kim's home

is that it is always different....

her displays are constantly evolving...

its never the same house each time I go....

This is her dinning room just off the entry way,

its open to the front parlor....

The plaid chairs you see in the pictures

 were slip covers I did for her a couple years ago.

This is when you enter into the master suite....

This is the biggest bed I have ever seen and she has it dressed so perfectly.....

This is a new addition....

and it will have a matching friend in her on suite bathroom....

over the tub...ooooh-la la

This is hidden under her writing desk.... so cute!....

Now on to her back garden....

The entire back garden is a delight...

due to a minor tragedy, her arbor which held her trumpet vine collapsed...

so I will have to share more of the garden with you next time....

A Fabulous Friday Before and After!

I met a lovely lady at the Junk Salvation Show who was interested in hiring me to make a slip cover....  

I gave her a tentative quote and our card with my phone number.....

 Last week we got together at my home (admist my remodel mess, which she didn't even bat an eye at!) and she brought me her chair.....

 

This is clearly the before.....

It is a hand me down that belonged to her in laws, she just couldn't part with it....

But she wanted to part ways with the green.....

(my teen daughter couldn't understand why)

She already had in mind what she wanted and had purchased fabric at a great price, smart lady. 

I love working on a creative new project and I am totally in love with before and afters. Mine or otherwise....

TADAH!!!!!

(don't look at the mess, PLEASE)

I love this after, it turned out so perfect. I almost didn't want to give it back....

Just kidding....

Thank you, Paddy! I enjoyed meeting you again and making your slip cover.

A Sneak Peak

There is a New Kid in town....

Right in the heart of down town of Enumclaw, WA

YES!!!

The Quiet Nest is moved in an open for business...

It wasn't with out some hard work....

Mr V is the champion painter, he edged everything and did the entire second coat...

We haven't gotten our sign put up yet, but it's on it's way....

I had never even been to Enumclaw before.

Am I ever glad that I finally found out what a jewel box it is.

V and I are in some really good company with the most charming shops in down town...

V and I are so Happy to be new neighbors to "the Posh Paw"

anyone who knows us, knows we are Animal Lovers...

Wake up Sleeping Beauties

If any of you are living in the Pacific North West

 then you know our spring hasn't quite gotten started yet.

 It's my favorite time of year, you see. I love watching all my sleeping beauties come to life. 

 I get clippings from neighbors and friends, more than going to the nursery to purchase.

I do a little every spring/summer and I am rewarded each year with the glorious sights and smells of the garden. I am by no means a master gardener...I follow advice and directions very well.... 

My daughter Allison (Alligator) volunteered to go cut these beauties.....



She cut enough for TWO beautiful bouquets and enough to take to a couple friends....

Sharing the pure joy that lilacs bring, nothing can compare....

I especially like them in the entry way,

 what a welcome to friends and family they make......

We were blessed by the previous owner by inheriting 17 of these lovelies...

They were her favorite flower...

They line the front porch and the entire back of our house....

There are several new little tree's coming up all around he bases of these....

If anyone knows how to root these and make new tree's I would love to know...

I have tried a few times, it hasn't worked for me....

I want to share, so please hhhheeeelllppp!

I had to share this new little vignette....

I bought these little blocks at the "Junk Salvation" flea market,

from V. She had all the letters to spell my last name...

I really like the whole idea of monogramming

and making our homes very personal to our families....

here's a little look at one of my containers on the front porch....

The iron table was purchased at the "Exhibitors boutique" a few years ago, and

the yellow crate came from the surplus that is no longer there. sad day...

I love to plant daffodils in it...

I have a purple and white theme in my gardens....

BUT, I pick a new accent color every year to put with these in the spring/summer....

This year is YELLOW....

My porch is an extension of my home, So as soon as weather gets nice enough

I.....DECORATE IT! it's what I do. (if it sits still, I will decorate it).....

This gorgeous watering can was the sweetest house warming gift when we bought our home 3 years ago...from a coworker....

I love this little watering can...

 I need to add some purple to it this year....

I haven't finished this side of the garden yet....but the planter is a little touch...

thinking a spiral topiary on each side and a trellis planted with blue potato vine...

the blue is actually purple...

one warning... potato vine is a very fast grower so put it some where there is alot of room to roam...

I will share pictures of that time....

This was last year, this basket now belongs to a vintage bike........

and the chairs are now black.....

sweetest little planter is in my home now, with a baby ivy,

 it was made by a friend who sells them at a local boutique....

 This is my spring wreath... 

I am a traditional southern girl and Home is where you hang your seasonal wreath.....

I have plants all through my home, living plants...

Did you know that 6 plants in 6" pots in each room will filter the air in your home

as well as an expensive air purifier....

I have terrible allergies, so do my girlies...

I have air filters in the bed rooms but in our main living areas I have plants...

no green thumb? there are tons of user friendly plants... ask in the plant department at any store they will help you find one that will work for you...
